Manual Therapy
Manual Therapy
Manual therapy is the hands-on side of physical therapy and can include soft tissue work, joint mobilization, manipulation, and other techniques used to help reduce pain or improve movement.
We use manual therapy when it helps make exercise and movement feel better, not as the entire treatment plan. If a hands-on technique helps you move more comfortably, we’ll use that progress to build strength, mobility, and confidence so you can get back to the things you actually want to be doing.
Manual therapy at Get Back can be used for common issues involving the back, neck, shoulders, hips, knees, and other orthopedic conditions.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Manual therapy is the hands-on side of physical therapy. It can include joint mobilization, soft tissue work, manipulation, and other techniques aimed at helping an area move or feel better. Just like dry needling, we usually use it to help create an opportunity for better movement rather than treating it like the whole solution.
-
Manual therapy may be useful for things like joint stiffness, muscle soreness, restricted movement, or pain that is making it harder to exercise normally. We commonly use it alongside exercise for back, neck, shoulder, hip, knee, and other orthopedic issues.
-
Not exactly. There can be some overlap with soft tissue work, but physical therapy manual techniques are used as part of a larger evaluation and treatment plan. We’re looking at how you move, what hurts, what’s limited, and what needs to improve so you can actually get back to doing what you want to do.
-
Usually, the answer isn’t one or the other. Hands-on treatment can be great for helping something feel better in the short term, but strength and movement are what help you build capacity over time. We’ll use whatever combination makes sense instead of doing manual therapy just because that’s what you’ve always had done.
-
There isn’t a standard number. Some people only need these techniques occasionally, while others may benefit from them more often early on. We base it on how you’re responding and whether the treatment is actually helping you move toward your goals. If it isn’t helping, we’re not going to keep doing it just to fill an appointment.

Founder | Physical Therapist & Personal Trainer
Growing up as a three-sport athlete and playing collegiate baseball, I developed a deep passion for movement, performance, and overall well-being. That passion led me to pursue a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Regis University, where I honed my expertise in rehabilitation and fitness.
After spending several years in insurance-based clinics, I realized I wanted to offer more to my patients—more time, more personalized care, and more effective solutions for long-term health. That’s why I founded Get Back PT and Performance: to bridge the gap between physical therapy and fitness, helping people move better, feel stronger, and live pain-free.
I provide one-on-one, hour-long sessions tailored to your specific needs, whether you’re recovering from an injury, looking to improve mobility, or striving for peak performance. My goal is to help you reduce pain now so you can improve function and health for the long run.
Let’s work together to build a healthier, stronger you!
