Physical Therapy for
Neck Pain
In Denver Colorado
Neck pain can show up as stiffness, aching, headaches, trouble turning your head, or pain that gets worse after sitting at a desk, driving, lifting, or spending too much time looking at a screen.
At Get Back PT & Performance, we help people in Denver figure out what may be contributing to their neck pain and build a plan to get moving more comfortably again.
The goal is not to make you afraid of posture or tell you to stop doing everything that bothers you. It’s to improve strength, mobility, and tolerance so your neck can handle normal life better.
What Does Neck Pain Feel Like?
Neck pain can be annoying, sharp, stiff, or just feel like something is constantly “off.”
Common symptoms can include:
Stiffness when turning your head
Pain after sitting or working at a computer
Discomfort while driving
Pain that travels into the upper back or shoulder
Headaches that seem to start around the neck
Pain with lifting or exercise
Tightness that keeps coming back
Difficulty finding a comfortable sleeping position
If your neck pain keeps affecting work, exercise, sleep, or everyday movement, it may be worth getting evaluated.
Why Does My Neck Hurt?
There usually isn’t one single reason.
Neck pain can be influenced by things like work demands, training volume, stress, sleep, previous injuries, strength, mobility, or simply spending a lot of time in one position.
And no, there usually is not one “perfect posture” you need to hold all day.
At Get Back, we look at how your neck and upper body move, what makes symptoms better or worse, how strong you are, and what you actually need to get back to doing.
How We Treat Neck Pain
Physical therapy for neck pain at Get Back is built around helping you move better and feel more confident using your neck again.
Depending on what we find during your evaluation, treatment may include:
Neck and upper-back mobility work
Strength training
Shoulder and upper-back strengthening
Changes to aggravating workouts or daily activities
Manual therapy
Dry needling when appropriate
Gradual return to lifting, sports, or normal exercise
We don’t rely on one treatment for everyone. Someone with neck pain from long desk days may need a different plan than someone whose symptoms show up during lifting or sport.
The plan should fit the person.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes. Physical therapy can help improve mobility, strength, and tolerance while helping you understand which movements or habits may be contributing to your symptoms.
-
Posture can play a role, but it usually is not as simple as “bad posture caused your pain.” Staying in any one position for a long time can become uncomfortable. We focus more on movement, strength, and changing positions regularly than trying to force you into one perfect posture.
-
Yes. We commonly work with people whose neck pain gets worse during computer work or long periods of sitting. Treatment may include strengthening, mobility work, workstation changes, and strategies for making long workdays more tolerable.
-
Often, yes. You may need to modify certain exercises temporarily, but complete rest is not always necessary. We can help you figure out what you can keep doing and what may need to change while symptoms improve.
-
Sometimes. Certain headaches can be related to structures and muscles around the neck. If headaches are part of your symptoms, we can evaluate whether the neck may be contributing and whether physical therapy makes sense.
-
Neck pain during lifting can be related to training volume, exercise setup, bracing, shoulder mobility, strength, or simply how much load you are currently able to tolerate. We can look at the movement itself instead of automatically telling you to stop lifting.
-
If neck pain keeps coming back, limits your workouts, affects sleep or work, or makes normal movement harder, an evaluation can help you figure out what is going on and what to do next.
