Lower Back Pain

In Denver Colorado

Person holding their lower back in pain, representing common symptoms of low back pain and muscle strain.

Lower back pain can make simple things like sitting at work, lifting, running, or getting through a workout way more frustrating than they should be.

At Get Back PT & Performance, we help people in Denver figure out what may be contributing to their back pain and build a plan to get moving again. That might mean improving strength, changing how you’re training, working on mobility, or simply rebuilding confidence in movements you’ve started avoiding.

The goal isn’t just to make your back feel better for a day. We want to help you get back to the things you actually want to do.

What Does Lower Back Pain Feel Like?

Back pain looks different for everyone. Some people wake up stiff every morning. Others feel completely fine until they sit too long, pick something up, run, squat, or deadlift.

Common symptoms can include:

  • Aching or stiffness in the lower back

  • Sharp pain with certain movements

  • Pain after sitting or standing for long periods

  • Discomfort when bending, lifting, squatting, or exercising

  • Pain that comes and goes depending on activity

  • Pain or symptoms that travel into the hip, buttock, or leg

If your back pain keeps changing what you can do, keeps coming back, or has you nervous about movement, it may be worth getting it evaluated.

Why Does My Lower Back Hurt?

There usually isn’t one simple answer.

Back pain can be influenced by how much activity your body is currently prepared to handle, changes in your training, strength, mobility, recovery, previous injuries, work demands, or even doing way more than usual over one weekend.

And despite what the internet may tell you, pain does not automatically mean your back is damaged or that you need to stop moving.

Our job is to look at the whole picture and figure out what actually matters for you instead of blaming one tight muscle, one “bad” posture, or one movement.

How We Treat Lower Back Pain

Physical therapy for lower back pain at Get Back is built around getting you moving and gradually building back what pain has taken away.

Depending on what we find during your evaluation, treatment may include:

  • Strength training

  • Mobility and movement work

  • Changes to your current exercise or training load

  • Manual therapy

  • Dry needling when appropriate

  • Gradual return to lifting, running, sports, or regular exercise

We don’t have one standard back pain program that everyone gets. Someone trying to get comfortable sitting through the workday probably needs something different from someone trying to get back to deadlifting or skiing.

The plan should match the person.
